Marshall, VADue west of The Plains, Marshall has been growing with the times while retaining its distinctive small town flavor. Situated on the edge of the Free State that reaches east to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Marshall began as Salem in 1796 by an Act of Assembly on 30 acres of land belonging to John Monroe, MD. Col. John Mosby – of legendary Mosby’s Raiders fame – refused to surrender during the Civil War and disbanded his rangers here. Home of the Fauquier Livestock Sales and Marshall Ford – the oldest Ford dealership in the USA located in the same building since November 23, 1915. This unincorporated town in Fauquier County was named for Supreme Court Justice John Marshall, a neighborhood native. |
